How to Make Sun Prints

Raise your hand and comment if you remember these as a kid? I think I did these in girl scouts and I forgot all about them until Giulian and I walked by a store that used them in a window display and I immediately had to order some to try. If your kiddo is bored out of their mind, this is such an easy and fun little creative project you can do with them. Or if you are like me and needed some peace and quite for 25 min, just sent them out in the yard with basket to gather their favorite plants and flowers and then help them with setting it up. I still have ours we made a few years back and plan 0on framing them in a big group in a laundry room or bathroom someday. Its easy cheap art!

All You Need Is:

  1. Sunprint kit (comes with paper and acrylic sheet)
  2. a piece of cardboard
  3. a dish of water
  4. some plants

How to Do It:

  1. Gather plants and flowers
  2. Use a small piece of cardboard as a base on a surface in the sun
  3. Then set down your blank sunprint paper
  4. arrange your leaves, flowers on the paper
  5. set the acrylic sheet on top
  6. Let the Sun go to work! The Sun will turn the paper to a white color this means its done!
  7. rise the paper and lay flat to dry and see your art come to life
  8. once dry, I sandwich the papers between heavy book pages. to flatten out

TIP: Keep it simple: sometimes the less plants you use the more detail will show through
